Issue Description

When an ExionLC (or Shimadzu LC) system and an Eksigent (425) LC are both used in separate hardware configurations in Analyst® 1.6.3 software with the same MS system and are both connected to the PC, switching between the two hardware configurations can cause the software to crash; this is due to a miscommunication between Analyst 1.6.3 software and the Eksigent autosampler.

This problem may be related to a communication process used by the ExionLC CBM module and only occurs when activating an Eksigent LC hardware configuration on the acquisition PC if the ExionLC CMB module is still powered on. This issue does not affect the successful activation of the ExionLC-MS hardware profile when reverting back to a high-flow configuration on the ExionLC system.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, disconnect the ExionLC (or Shimadzu LC) system from the PC before activating the hardware profile with Eksigent LC system using the procedure below:
1) Save and close all work in Analyst software
2) Deactivate the ExionLC-MS (or Shimadzu LC-MS) hardware profile
3) Close Analyst software
4) Shut down the PC
5) Shut down the ExionLC or Shimadzu LC controller. (You do not have to disconnect the ethernet cable or shut down all the LC components.)
6) Switch the contact closure cable of the LC system to MS from Exion/Shimadzu to the Eksigent system
7) Start the PC
8) Open Analyst software
9) Activate the Eksigent-MS hardware profile

In order to go back to the ExionLC or Shimadzu LC system do the following:
1) Save and close all work in Analyst software
2) Deactivate the Eksigent-MS hardware profile
3) Close Analyst software
4) Shut down the PC
5) Switch the contact closure cable of the LC system to MS from Eksigent to ExionLC or Shimadzu LC
6) Turn the ExionLC controller on
7) Restart the PC
8) Open Analyst software
9) Activate the ExionLC-MS (or Shimadzu-MS) hardware profile
